So, they're replacing breakdancing with eSports?! Huh. I didn't even get a chance to watch the breakdancing. I'm wondering how that got judged. New sports? Axe-throwing? That's not too far off from archery since you already have the targets up. I'd be interested to see how they can make parkour an Olympic. That shit is fascinating to watch!
I wonder if they need extra insurance for Parkour. I heard the breakdancing was lame. Like a funky head tilt and you went to the Olympics. E-sports?! A good swivel chair?
LOL. I don't think they would need extra insurance for that. It's right up there--lit*er*al*ly-- with skateboarding and that BMX street trick stuff they do.
What a fun take on the Olympics. I've been to the games twice. Always a bunch of fun. We had a distant relative slated for the Olympics in Atlanta but despite being highly qualified there is always the matter of politics and knowing somebody that intrudes even in sports. Sour grapes??? not really. She was the national player of the year yet didn't make the team. It is amazing to me how many children of Olympians end up in sports. I figure kids need to win (1) the genetics lottery or (2) know somebody lottery (or both if you are Lebron James' kid). In many ways it is a microcosm of life although I think sports is way more likely to be loaded with the deserving. You never see a doofus in the Olympics but lots of them in mommy or daddy's business :) For me the very best thing about the Olympics is to experience the not so often seen sports. Amazing talent and commitment usually toiling in anonymity. I figure that is what the pursuit of excellence is all about.
Hi Mark. Thx for reading and commenting. I’m impressed you’ve been a spectator at the games twice and more so that you had a relative who qualified. I never thought about the politics in making the team but I guess it’s everywhere. Ugh. It’s not only winning the genetics lottery but also the psychological component is huge. Performing under so much pressure?! Yes, fun to support the lesser popular sports.
In the village as a poor college student at Lake Placid. Too poor to attend events but the vibe was awesome. Once for the summer games. Hoping to make it to LA for the next Olympics.
"Love this!" Chase types on his keyboard, avidly avoiding any work at his day job. "I could easily take home a medal in Olympic Meta Narration."
(He could not. Chase knows that he would forget to attend the prequalifiers and would spend the following months regretting his decisions and eating pints of ice cream.)
I'm also going round everywhere that shows up in my Notes no matter what the intro request is about saying 'hi' , or at least everywhere that's remotely relevant, but that clearly didn't come across here 🙈.
This is awesome (other than my dismay at some of the upcoming Olympic sports - esports? WTH?).
I think you should make Olypstacks an annual event, who knows how big it will get! Also, I think you are the perfect choice for the opening ceremonies, well done!
How about the pancake STACK race. Contestants go flat out (like a pancake) to see how many stacks they can read, heart and comment on in a given time. Bonus points for comprehension and actually adding something of value to the conversation 🤓😅😂
I love the way you think (and write) 😂 This has to be the most entertaining post on Substack yet! Thank you for including me 🤍 I'm gonna go and pratice so I can shave off some time from that 10 seconds. The goal is 5 seconds dead and back 💥
Ninja stuff joins the summer games next time around and replaces one of the oldest events the Modern Pentathlon. There is no demographic for the latter I imagine :) Reality is stranger than fiction :)
I always feel a bit guilty and slothen watching athletes sweat their asses off, defying the physics of human embodiment, while sitting on the sofa under a blanket. But with this new line-up of Olymptacks, bring on the bon bons!

Just when I thought I had my rate of adding new subscriptions under control…
Thx so much, Serena. 🥰🙏
The video!! 😂😂
Love this
Thx, sweetie. 🥰🙏

"Definitely at least a silver."
Great category and often overlooked. Meta narration and its companion sport— referring to oneself in third person. Hehe.
Haha! I am delighted to be mentioned in this line-up although I don't quite achieve the elements you assign to me! In my Olympic dreams perhaps!
You are so multi talented it was hard to pick your “sport.”
I would obviously get a medal for 'the most introductions in random places on Substack' 💃.
You can see what I did there, right?🤔🤣🏅.
Ah. A baker. Yum. Random intros?
It was an attempt at a joke because I'm posting here as a way to introduce myself 😉.
Aha! Thx for the intro. I did ask for intros, didn’t I? Haha.
I'm also going round everywhere that shows up in my Notes no matter what the intro request is about saying 'hi' , or at least everywhere that's remotely relevant, but that clearly didn't come across here 🙈.
Great idea. It’s a fab community.
Esports and borscht in colored bowls! Thank you for a much needed laugh!
Happy to provide. 🥰🙏

Right?
Thx, Donna.
I wanted to do a video of me lighting our brush on fire in the outdoor pit and coughing from all the smoke but summertime means burn ban.
Ha, that would have been funny!

Love it. I would lose. I’m a slow reader.

You’re so sweet. Can I quote you?
Of course!
How about most books purchased-but-yet-to-be-read, aka BPBYTBR? Because I'm pretty sure I'm goin' for the gold!
That’s a great category!
Haha. I’ll be you’d have a lot of competition. I’ve got quite a few that need eyes.
I’m writing about throwing Ninja stars at the moment, but am nowhere near competitive play. Thank you for this hearty fun for Olympic season!
Ninja stuff joins the summer games next time around and replaces one of the oldest events the Modern Pentathlon. There is no demographic for the latter I imagine :) Reality is stranger than fiction :)
Oh my goodness! Shows what I know. 😅
Throwing Ninja stars. I have no idea what that means but am intrigued.
Little metal weapons for use in emergencies by stealth warriors. Seems like a better Olympic candidate than esports, though maybe it’s just as well not to encourage their use. https://www.vectorstock.com/royalty-free-vector/ninja-throw-stars-icon-cartoon-style-vector-30214722
Ah. Yes. Or ax throwing?
Gulp. Yes! 🙈
I always feel a bit guilty and slothen watching athletes sweat their asses off, defying the physics of human embodiment, while sitting on the sofa under a blanket. But with this new line-up of Olymptacks, bring on the bon bons!
Great response. Yes. Bring on the (in my case) paleo bon bons.
Has anyone added "Relaxed Coffee Drinking" yet?
Now that would be competitive. Although caffeinated coffee and relax are oxymorons. Hehe.
That’s the challenge! It’s a fine line between relaxed and jittery, and only the true competitors will be able to pull through to the finish
Obviously there will be gold, silver and bronze mugs involved
Love it.
😂 yayaya!!! Olympicstack. I think my sunflowers would win gold first season out! But alas, carrots will have to wait for next year. 🌻 🥕
Ooohhhh. I love sunflowers. Do you pick out the seeds for consumption?
