Our last vacation was to Pensacola Beach, Florida, a 17 hour drive. Would have been interesting to use a paper map! There was a little blip without data, though, so a back up map would have been nice to have in hand just in case!
I don't have a good sense of direction, conventionally. But I'm a good wanderer; I find what I need to find along the way. My next vacation(?) is to Las Vegas to some conferences in August. Thanks for the shout-out, I appreciate it!
1. We don't take vacations, we just move. Moving end of July, two towns north.
2. Hiya.
3. I have a fair sense of direction, but I think it deteriorates in direct proportion to my GPS use. To quote one of the dads on Bluey, "Thanks, SatNav!"
Okay, this brings out a short (for me) comment -- gotta get the order right (1) Thanks for linking to me, (the lone dude) and so glad you found something to like. As a music hound, maybe the Clash can re-release "Rock the Catma" (2) oh-oh-oh we frequently hear about hubby -- a cross-country roadtrip to the Berkshires -- please -- for the love of G-d tell us you didn't drive across the country in an RV to go to the Berkshires Art Festival??? Aging Gratefully but still accumulating more stuff for the kids to fight over? (3) Love your recommendations as they are a smorgasbord (kinda like a mish mash???). Who can resist a fun mix. Since I read yours regularly the bookends just need to be comedy and discovered Julia Sweeney thanks to you. The last one lead-in re: menopause is probably too much for the lone dude tho. Enjoy the ride. A road trip can be better than an airplane or a train if you are with the right person. Refuse the submarine ride tho.

I couldn't figure out how to send you a private message, so I'm doing this publically.... a message from SubStack (I edited out my email address): "You're logged in as xxxx@xxx.xxx, but this page is private. Try logging in with a different email, or letting the author know they've linked to a private page." Obviously, I got into your post, though, so maybe there was something else associated with the link? This message popped up as a separate page, in addition to the post page.

I love maps. I seldom use them these days but I still have a collection from travelling and I pull them out now and again and admire them.
I hope you have a great holiday.
Have a great time, Carissa. I just got back from my mini-break in Cambria last week. It was lovely and needed. Time away feeds the soul. xo
Great links/recs. Enjoy your road trip. I’m doing a cross country road trip with the fiancée next month!

Best guess: you'll be sleeping at CVS for the next couple of nights?
