Love the video at the end! lol! And, thanks for sharing your story. I can relate but instead of cold I am always hot. Summer is definitely not my favorite time of year either especially since 4 of my kids play soccer which means I am mom is outside sweating her eyebrows off.
I’m looking forward to the cool down but unfortunately here in Cali that won’t be until the end of October. And I am still wondering how we juggle 4 kids in year round competitive soccer.
1. Are you always hot? Cold? Always cold. Always. Part of it, for me, was anemia. For, like, years.
2. Do you have a/c or heat wars with your partner or roommate? It was A/C wars for Mr. Ex and I. Mr. Ex was like your husband. I hated him during the winter because I would go from a cold office to a cold apartment. It's like I could never get warm, despite the layers.
3. Do you work in a refrigerator? Yes. See above.
4. Do you always ask the waitress to turn up the a/c like me? No. I just asked not to be seated under a fan/vent/next to a door. LOL
I’m with you, CK, I’m always freezing (blood thinners). And, as a 35-year veteran of the newspaper business, I enjoyed the shout-out to the morning paper (we only print two days a week in Pittsburgh these days, but still. . .).
Oh my goodness. Yes! I froze the first 25 or so years of our marriage while my husband had the fan on full time. Then we switched. I hit menopause, he lost a lot of weight. Now I’m hot with the fan on and he is shivering under extra covers.
I’ve always thought you had to dress for three seasons in summer at the office.
Augh! How I relate to your indoor winter clothes in summer. When I worked in the US my colleagues called me mister potter (from its a wonderful life) because I always had a wool blanket on my lap… in summer
I don’t think I have that medical condition, but I have plenty of others. I’m super sensitive to cold, and for that reason, summer is my favorite season. But! That means my hubby is always uncomfortable, because I can’t stand the air so cold I need a blanket in the motor home! Is it my PKD, high bp, or some other reason? I’m post menopausal, and yes, summer temps do get too hot for me, which is why we are currently visiting Colorado instead of sweltering in Texas-where we are from. I always take a sweater when going to the grocery store, even in the summer. Or some restaurants that I know from experience are freezing inside. Alas, it’s just a fact I have to live with.
Love your neanderthal bit! My youngest son is quickly becoming a shorts-only kid, which is actually great, because it will save me replacing all his pants with worn out knees (I think?) his brother and I run cold, though
😅😂 The memes and video are hilarious! My wife has the raynaud's but I do the ice baths! But tv time, ac is on for her and I with the blanket. It's fun!
Thank you for bringing this up CK. I know we have bigger fish to fry in our world right now but excessive AC is a problem. I often think about how it cannot be good for normal human physiology to go from outside into an interior that is that cold day after day and then, as you said, there's the massive energy usage. I live in Camp Raynauds so I definitely get what you're going through.
Bahahahahaha! I am always freezing... in my last office I wore a giant blue slanket to meetings because it was always a brisk 56 degrees... and then, of course, I would still have a hotflash mid-presentation and my annoying boss, Chip, with a toothbrush mustache that always had food in it, would hand me a tissue and tell me I looked like sweaty Smurf... yeah, there's no winning with my endocrine system, lol.
Great post! I don't like being trapped inside with air conditioning any more than I like being trapped inside with heat. I love the temperate weather that allows for open windows and cool breezes and very little humidity.

Hi Jessica; Thx for subscribing! Soccer in the sun! I remember those days. We were in Boston so the weather quickly cooled down.
4 kids! How do you juggle schedules?

😂😂
OMG laughed so hard. I am you, CK.

Sistah! Besides thyroid issues I was always borderline anemic. You good now?
Better than I was. I think my numbers have been a little low lately, but for the most part, yes, I'm good.
🙏🙏

Ah. A veteran journalist. Nice.
No, not a journalist - I’ve worked on the business-side - Finance. But, I’ve worked with some terrific journalists over the years.
I love “Popsicle Toes.” Mainly because that is the constant state of my toes, but also because it’s a catchy song.
Agree and same. 🥰

LMAO. That’s hilarious. I may call myself that too. Thx for reading and commenting!

Thx for reading and sharing. Finding the perfect climate is a challenge. I forgot to mention airplanes in my essay!

Thx, Katharine.
Love that your kid is living in shorts.
Raynaud’s here. Often cold! Sometimes purple. Worst case, numb-white. 🤣
May you stay warm and cozy!
Many Raynaud’s here. I didn’t know it was so common. 🙏
Yeah, I’ve been learning that lately too. We are many. ;)

Oh boy. Ron’s house is a dichotomy too.
I’m with the on the A/C issue. Summer means a war with my husband. He doesn’t even CHECK to see if it’s cool enough outside. He just turns on the A/C.
He was in heaven when I was having hot flashes. It was the only time I allowed it without a fight.
Haha. Same. Jeff loved when I had hot flashes.
AC when it’s cold outside? I hope you have a collection of blankets like me.

Wow. Lots of folks here with Raynaud’s. I’ve gotten sick from being in a freezing room for too long.

Chip! Haha. 56 degrees is just plain wrong.
I hate AC blasting at 60 in the summer too! No AC in my house :)
Nothing like cool night air.

Love the night air— as long as there are screens on the windows. 😉
I have raynaud's! How fun it is! Though I'm in shorts today for our meetup but my fingers are cold.
And you didn’t get cold last night? Awesome. At least 5 people here have Raynauds. Could be an interesting collab.
