Yes, I cry at weddings. I even cried at my own. LOL. And I honestly think it's because love hangs in the air like cigarette smoke. And you bet your ASS I would move to Tuscany. In a fucking heartbeat. I don't even know the language, but I would take a page from Diane Lane and move there, buy a little cottage that needed some work, and hire hawt Italians (although I think the guys she found were Swedish, I think?) to fix it up. And why does your daughter look like actress Amanda Seyfried in these photos? LOL So beautiful!
Spill the tea about their love story. You said they were high school sweethearts. Did they have a long-distance relationship or did he end up staying in the US? Do they now live in Italy or are they in the US? To be honest, if I got married to an Italian citizen, I would never go back to the US. I'd be all, "No, no, we can live here. I will gladly volunteer as tribute to stay here and not go back to my own shitty country." LOL
Hi Ororo. I miss you. Hope the book is coming along.
The only issue with Samantha and her hubby living in Italy is lack of jobs. They have good jobs in Boston. I think they’re secretly hoping to move back in a few years but we shall see.
Awww, thanks for that. I'll be back after the New Year. Still deciding the frequency, though. Book is coming along. Looks like I'll be posting two chapters a month (8 chapters plus an Epilogue). Here's hoping they get to move back.
"They are an example of what humanity could achieve if we only embraced each other." A lovely, inspiring account of your family and the love within it.
I always cry at weddings ... and at wonderfully written essays about crying at weddings. 🥰
Love hits me hard and out of nowhere often. When my kids play music or sing. When I hear a marching band or watch a perfectly executed kick-line. When I witness kindness from strangers in public. I'm a joy weeper for sure. My dad is the same way. He can't tell a story about parenting or old friends without getting misty. Doesn't matter how silly the story is. I think he's just happy to have lived it.
I'd love to visit Tuscany. And am guessing I wouldn't want to leave once I got there. Just waiting on that winning PowerBall ticket. 😉
Congratulations to you and your family! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was able to relive the love through your writing! The entire weekend radiated with love. And you know this already, but you’ve raised one very special woman. She is truly a bright light. ❤️❤️
I don’t cry at weddings. I’m usually too busy smiling.
What you said about love reminds me of some of the most moving funerals I’ve been to. There is nothing like a room full of people all pouring out their love for someone they miss terribly.
I couldn’t move to Tuscany. I can’t even move an hour away because I’d miss my grandkids too much!
What a much-needed dose of joy! Such a gorgeous, once-in-a-lifetime occasion, matched by an equally heartfelt essay. It's clear that Samantha has touched the lives of so many and is deeply loved. That these two soulmates have found each other must be incredibly poignant for you and Jeffrey. The love completely radiates from your stunning photos. Congratulations to you, Jeffrey, and the newlyweds! You all look so beautiful. ❤️
What a beautiful, special event, and what a beautiful, special essay. Your daughter has clearly had an impact on, and is loved by, many people. How touching and gratifying that must be for you and Jeffrey. You can practically feel the love popping out of those (gorgeous) photos. Congratulations to you, Jeffrey, and the newlyweds.
Thank you for this. It was so uplifting! I could feel the love pouring out from your words. Just what I needed after focusing on the safety and whereabouts of friends and family in NC for the past several days.
CK, beautifully written and beautifully photographed. A sincere congratulations, it looks like it was a wonderful and very special ceremony. I have yet to walk either of my daughters down the aisle but the time is probably near and I'll no doubt shatter the persona of a tough, no-nonsense guy. I will be a big bowl of jello. - Jim

Diane Lane had good taste. Hehe.
