Ding ding ding.! I wondered almost immediately what it was you wanted to ask. Even when there is violence all around, some of us are able to help the rest of us with a little humor. Thank you.

What a great post Carissa. I think in times of true strife people need to reach for whatever it is that anchors them. It is easy to lose faith in our shared humanity. I remain an optimist and believe we live in the best time ever to be alive. IMO the sooner tribalism and mysticism can be evaluated critically, the more hope I have for the future as we have within our power to replace the worst of human tendencies with something better.

Wow, Carissa. You are such a great writer. I loved the humor behind the angels and even love the name “Lamp” (the guiding light). Thank you for little bit of humor during a really dark time. ❤️

Oh Carissa. I wish I could reach out and give you a hug. This was such a beautiful essay. I would be lined up right there with you to sign up and serve. I am left without words at what's happening in Israel, but also the reactions in the media and social media. It's hard to witness. I am left lost and bewildered. Like you though, I look for ways to serve G-d (aka Lamp.) Your writing was so poignant and yet you still managed to find some humour. I agree with Donna, this is your best yet. Sending you much love. xo

This has left me speechless.

You absolutely are serving Lamp when you can write something with this much meaning despite the pain you are witnessing in a more personal way than many of us.

When you were asked if you are willing to die for Lamp I was stopped in my tracks, I took a big breath in. I have never really thought about it until right now reading this essay, but I will be thinking about it moving forward.

You have written many amazing things Carissa, and I am an utter fangirl for your novel but I think this is the best thing I've seen you write. ❤❤❤
