I see we started our substack newsletters at around the same time in February! I love reading the variety out there. I didn't even think of milestones for subscribers, but congratulations on whatever the milestone number was. :)
Thanks for sharing.
P.S. Still LOVE your newsletter name. Draws me in every time.
Love the extract - think it might be very suitably YA but would sell well as an A. I would probably buy it as I'm an unashamed dogaholic.
My brekkie is usually about 8 AM and consists of water, and toast with homemade jam/marmalade (no butter) or water with small bowl of hot porridge that has almonds , cinnamon folded through and a dollop of yoghurt and fresh fruit in the top. Brekkie's my favourite meal of the day. It feeds the mental and physical engines in this age-ing body! Every other meal is tiresome and means I have to spend too much time in the kitchen.
And I'm currently finishing my 5th hist. fantasy. It was a holiday away from historical fiction which is the usual genre.
Congratulations, CK! Very happy for you. (And, breakfast is a cup of homemade chicken bone broth and 3 links of chicken and sage sausage...a banana is a mid-morning dessert.) xo
Loved your story. I like the fact that it was from the dogs point of you. Write a novel that is a page turner for an adult. I don't think young people read anymore!
My main epic fantasy series is for mature audiences. But I'm about to release book 1 of a middle grade (13 and above) epic fantasy trilogy. It's my first time writing for this age group. I have enjoyed it. But it is certainly a different writing experience.
I loved reading that excerpt. Adorable Alfie!
I like granola smoothies in the morning.
I'm thinking YA as well.

Congrats on near-completion of your 5th novel! I love historical fiction.
Thank you. Fifth fantasy fiction, one contemporary fiction, and 8 historical fictions... phew!
I age thinking about them!

Wonderfully healthy. I know you have digestion crap too.
I love anything related to dogs, so I was quite happy to read this!
Thx! Me too. I loved The Art of Racing in the Rain.
And breakfast.....scrambled eggs and spinach on a bagel
Yum.
Call me boringbut I love a story woven around reality. Fiction involving fact, geta bit of history in there and I'm sold.
Truth be told the story is loosely based on some of my experiences as a mom.
Me too.

Congrats! Will you be sharing excerpts on your stack?
Thanks! Yes, I will! Sorry, I wasn't trying to publicize my book. I was just responding to one of the questions in your post. :)
Apologies not necessary and of course you can publicize.
