Feel better!

Funny. My IBS cut me off from coffee for a while, but then I managed to sneak it back in sometime late last year... and yesterday it seems that my heart is acting up, so it looks like I may be exiled from Coffee World once again (for good this time). I do love the stuff, but off course it's not to die for. At least I don't have to deal with coffee houses (there are none!). Thanks for reposting this, I missed it the first time around, and thinking of it will help me during my next few days of withdrawal! 😂

Get well soon....

Oh no. So sorry you’re having reactions. Love the line— it’s not to die for.

No coffee houses in your neck of the woods?

Thx for reading an commenting!

Turns out it's "just" an anxiety attack. But the bottom line for the caffeine still stands. No coffee houses unless I'm willing to drive 40 minutes round trip. I make my coffee at home. 😂

My cardiologist told me to avoid caffeine after my heart attack. Yeah, I'll chop off a couple of fingers, too...NOT! So, I now drink half the caffeine by mixing coffee 50/50 with brewed cocoa. The cocoa (not the powdered crap in the can) has a different source of caffeine that doesn't have a sudden cliff, like coffee. When you first try it, you will feel a bit of a rush and an increased heart rate, similar to a cardio workout. It's just an increase in oxygen flow. After that, you will appreciate the dilated blood vessels without the jitters and drop off. Some days, I'll just do the cocoa...with lactose free milk and raw sugar. My cardio guy still wags the finger at me, but what is life without vices and chances? FYI, I do this at home like a real caffeine junkie, never in public or at those exorbitant prices! ;)

I’m impressed by your chemistry acumen. I have my vices too. Dark chocolate— which I can’t eat after 3pm or I won’t be able to sleep.

Hoping you feel better soon! COVID’s a shocker. I’m a decaf drinker. I’ve often had it at home, but I recently had to drop caffeine altogether, not so much for the palpitations as the for the severe drop in heart rate 90 minutes later. Took me a bit to make the connection, but a heart rate of 40 while walking and talking is very scary. You can get such good decaf these days, that I’m not minding too much. Thank goodness. I also drink decaf teas which helps. All the best. Get well soon.

I’ve heard of wired then tired but never a severe heart rate drop. That’s scary. Hope you consulted with cardiologist to make sure there’s nothing else going on.

Yes! There is yummy decaf although I can’t even drink decaf or eat dark chocolate after 3 pm. I won’t be able to sleep!

I can't drink coffee any more either due to the palpitations and general craziness it induces, so I empathize with this one! I don't even bother with decaf, just gave it up.

My long lost palp-buddy. How about dark chocolate?

You nailed the coffee house vibe. Maybe next time cover that dirty word with a sleeve! Great read, you had me giggling as I sipped my highly caffeinated coffee. :)

Not giving up the caffeine any time soon, but I get the whole 2pm thing. Why is it 2pm? Who knows but it's extremely accurate!

I have coffee envy. Sometimes I feel like a voyeur when I’m amongst people drinking coffee. I lick my chops. Haha. Thx for subscribing!

I share you (not so secret shame) decaf here. I do love the idea of a workout without moving. Also have written about sliding between tables at a coffee shop. Which side goes where if you have to go sideways?

Haha. Yes it’s the ol’ packed coffee house with tables too close together and strollers blocking the path. Thanks for reading and commenting. 🥰

ok this might seem odd in response to a totally entertaining take on a topic which must have been probed more times than the butt of a carnival stripper but did you spell "comradery" correct?

personally as a total rural rube i imagine the city-based Barista Scene is trending not only towards continued addiction to drug but ensnaring addiction with foam sprayed "murals" rather than cute unicorns and rabbits which inform Diego Rivera-style about the oppressed workers in tropical climates picking beans ie men, women, children, stooping in fields with mountains on horizon with burlap bags over-slung on backs......hmmmm beginning to think i do best work in other people's living room sorry hahah
